In my earlier article I had written about the readymade leaders. So by now you know that ready made leaders in reality do not exist. Let me give you a brief overview of what I wrote earlier before I commence the new journey of words. All people are born with potentials. Some with less and some with more. Those who harness that potential to their advantage and to its maximum best, shine above the common herd. It is this special breed that we know as “The Leaders”. Now what I am up with next is my very personal experience that I have extracted from the pages of my life.
While I was in the baby stage of learning I did not quite feel the heat of responsibility. Days buzzed away and when one fine day I realized that it was my turn to step onto the podium of that “JUMBO RESPONSIBILITY” I felt butterflies in my stomach. Although very excited on one hand to represent and lead the team but on the other hand had oodles of questions that were storming my mind. Will I be able to do it or not? To be honest enough it had always been my dream to lead a team of many. But at that moment I did not have the sleekest of the ideas that thinking about being a leader and being a leader in actuality has a lot of difference. Although I don’t completely believe in the “PERFECTIONIST’S THEORY “but even then I like doing things correctly. So, the first thing that came to my mind was to browse through the books in a traditional way. All these books assisted me in a great way. I discovered the answers to my questions and in fact many questions that haunted my mind for long. Out of the many I would like to put down some of them here so that my readers can relate to them and benefit. They are here in bulleted form for you all as:-
• The background of famous personalities that proved effective leaders overtime.
• What challenges they faced and how did they overcome those successfully?
• What went into the making of great and respectable leaders?
• How is their theory relevant in today’s times?
Not only reaching the pinnacle is important but staying there and maintaining that for long is also essential. After reading all those enriching biographies I found myself on the elevated side of the knowledge teeter board. Although contingences keep arriving at your doorstep and no specific solutions are available for unstructured situations yet my reading skill did a lot of good to me than I had thought of. Now I was all set to rock the new dimension. I was well aware of the fact that, it was just the beginning and I had move the miles away. But in all these years what I have learnt is that one has to work really hard to understand the nitty-gritty’s of being a superb leader.
To conclude with, Leaders do not posses any super human qualities or mystical powers; they just follow simple, common sense practices in their daily grind to rise above the rest. A quality leader demonstrates performance in upgrading the quality consciousness of his employees, products and services.
